Priority registration in new top-level domain .TATAR started

On September 2, at a briefing at Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers, Tatarstan Minister of Information and Communications Roman Shaikhutdinov said that the first stage of priority registration in a new top-level domain .TATAR started. The priority registration will continue till October 27. Open registration will be available from March 23, 2015.
The new top-level domain .TATAR will comprise linguistic diversity and ethnic groups of Tatars from all over the world. The so-called “Tatar Internet” will facilitate promotion of national, language, values, and cultural identity of Tatar people. Meanwhile, top-level domain .TATAR is registered in Tatarstan and Moscow.
“This domain will enable enterprises connected with Tatarstan market, Tatar nationality, public organizations and educational resources to present themselves,” the speaker said.
The Minister told that registration will be held in a few stages, priority, premium and open accordingly.
The priority registration has already begun. On August 29-October 27, the right for priority registration will be given to owners of trademarks included in ICANN and registered in The Trademark Clearinghouse. Tatarstan government authorities, management authorities of state non-budgetary funds, local self-government bodies and governmental agencies of the Republic of Tatarstan will be able to register on November 5-25.
Owners of trademarks, media agencies and non-profit organizations will register on December 1-21.
“About 1,000 Tatarstan enterprises are potential interesants in terms of registration of their companies in this domain. All municipalities will obviously be registered,” Roman Shaikhutdinov said.
Organizations can register their resource in the domain .TATAR via accredited administrators. The list of administrators is available on the website http://nic.tatar/.
Roman Shaikhutdinov reminded participants of the meeting that work on registration of the new top-level domain .TATAR started in 2012 by Tatarstan President’s order, when OOO “Coordination centre of the regional domain of the Republic of Tatarstan” was established. The request was sent to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) in January.
Last June the request was considered by ICANN experts, and OOO “Coordination centre of the regional domain of the Republic of Tatarstan” got the right to conclude the agreement with ICANN for administrating the top-level domain .TATAR.
ZAO “Technical centre Internet” is responsible for organization and comprehensive servicing of the domain infrastructure. Currently the domain has successfully passed the stage of delegation in IANA technical service.
