Days of Republic of Tatarstan Culture opened in Moscow on Wednesday. Between 20 and 24 August, Muscovites and capital’s guests will be in for quite a few various meetings where they will be able to learn Tatar people’s culture, traditions and history.
The first meeting took place at the premises of Tatar Culture Centre, where Tatar intelligentsia met with Muscovites. The list of Tatar intellectuals included Tatarstan Union of Writers Chair Rafis Kurbanov, Tatarstan People’s Poet, Tukai and Jalil State Awards winner Ravil Faizullin, Russian Union of Writers Secretary Renat Kharis, and writer Vakhit Imamov.
Tatarstan representative in Russia Ravil Akhmetshin opened the meeting saying the Days of Culture took place in the Russian President-declared Year of Culture and within an agreement on socio-cultural cooperation between Tatarstan and Moscow. Ravil Akhmetshin stressed the extensive programme that would be available for Moscow residents for 5 days had been prepared at the request of his fellow countrymen living in Moscow, reports the representation’s press service.
Rafis Kurbanov told about Tatarstan Union of Writers’ work and visitors from Tatarstan answered quite a few questions from audience.
A documentary in Tatar called Tufan Is Tufan telling about the popular Tatar writer, playwright, prose author, opinion journalist, public and state figure Tufan Minnullin, who had become a classic during his life, was then demonstrated. The film was introduced by director Ildar Maturov.
Later the same day, Tatar Theatre after Kamal presented a show called The Mullah based on one of Tufan Minnullin’s latest plays at Mayakovsky Theatre.
Before the concert began, Tatarstan representative in Russia Ravil Akhmetshin, Mayakovsky Theatre director Leonid Osharin and Kamal Theatre chief director Farid Bikchentayev spoke to the audience.
Ravil Akhmetshin greeted the event’s participants on behalf of Tatarstan authorities on the beginning of the Days of Tatarstan Culture.
